The Best Part of Having a Villa in Costa Rica

2013-09-22 16.46.21It’s nice to write something personal from time to time. Now don’t get me wrong, I truly love having guests at Casa Tranquila.  My decision to start inviting folks here was my plan to bring The World to Me, since I could not travel as much as I would like. And I love when you all come to see me.  This weekend, however, I had the opportunity to feel some major goose bumps at Casa Tranquila.

Nathan’s dad’s birthday was Saturday, and we had a true Tico Fiesta.  Twenty-five members of his family were here to celebrate, and I never saw such fun.  Kids screaming in the pool, everyone eating amazing local food from paper plates, a true Costa Rican piñata, and nary a word of English was heard. 2013-09-22 16.44.19

I thought I might be uncomfortable at the party, but Nathan’s family made me feel welcome in my own home.  They brought and prepared all the food and drink, there was great Latin music blaring and ongoing laughter and celebration.  Sombra was in her element, even the kids had a blast, the cake and ice cream was devoured, and (as you might imagine) every bottle was empty at the end of the day.

Happy Birthday, Joaquin!  We can’t wait until next year!
